Another chapter in a long list of accomplishments started when Helen Vallozzi started making gnocchi in her basement in 1955. Helen quickly outgrew her home operation and then moved to a small restaurant in Latrobe where she not only sold gnocchi, but made her mind to serve them to guests as well. Helen's son Ernie soon became involved in the fast growing business and they also chose to move into a larger space in Greensburg. Many years later, Ernie's sons Julian as well as Dante joined the family business. Vallozzi's's Greensburg has been a fine dining destination in Western Pennsylvania for nearly four decades. Nine years ago Vallozzi's family planned to continue to expand their culinary reaches into downtown Pittsburgh. Its Pittsburgh has all the elements that one would expect from a family restaurant.
