Back in the summer of 2006, Randy Poutrain was cleaning the backyard of their old San Diego surf shop. The founder of Spooner Balance Board has always liked surfing and skateboarding. When he was young, he would find the old garbage can covers and slide them down the mountain. Spooner Balance Board is based on this inspiration-an all-terrain downhill slide suitable for soil, grass, sand, gravel and snow! A few months after he cut the first board, his surfing partner Bernie Miller came in and saw them moving. He jumped down and said, "He must make these!" So they went to the old city bar, had a beer and wrote down a simple business plan. They did research and development in the garage and applied for a patent. He found a young and energetic man, Reuben Gaymer. The three of them started the project and began to work hard.
