In 1910, Henry J Schrade decided to take the skills he had honed growing up in Germany and use them in the United States. He opened the Schrades Flowers and never looked back. His love of flowers will last for generations to come. His son, William T Schrade, balances with his father and maintains his own greenhouse on Nelson Ave. In the 1960s, William's son, John h. Schrade, followed the family tradition of running his own greenhouse and landscaping business. In 1974, he was in the 328 Broadway opened Posie Peddler. In 1986, John's daughter, Gretchen, bought flowers from Schrades and ran both stores for years. In 1996, Gretchen merged the two companies into one. In 2004, Posie Peddler moved to a bigger location of parliament square. Then, in the spring of 2011, the company upgraded to its own property on west street.
