It was founded out of a desire to provide immigrants living in the area with high-quality rye, black, and grain breads that reflected their native culture. The business was sold to Keith Cohen in 2008, after being passed down through Orwashers family from generation to generation. Since then, Keith and his team have put in a lot of effort to honor the brand's long history while incorporating a very current viewpoint. They have developed a new line of contemporary artisan breads to satisfy today's palates, collaborated with local wineries to create their starters, and partnered with regional farmers for raw materials as part of this evolution.
