Innerlight was founded in 1969 by founder Yancy Spencer, who changed the company's name to Innerlight in 1972. From a 400 square foot cinder block building, Innerlight expanded to four locations from Pensacola, Florida, to Destin, Florida. Together with his brother JB (Spencer) Schluter, Yancy owned Innerlight. In May of 2011, Yancy passed away after surfing all day at one of his favorite California spots. His family has since been given the responsibility to continue on the same path. Many events, schools, and teams are sponsored by Innerlight, which is very involved in its community.
