Green Beacon, a pioneer in the Brisbane craft beer scene, was established in 2013 with the goal of developing a world-class Brisbane beer culture. It all started with two buddies and a few beers on Moreton Island, Queenslands sand dunes. Green Beacon was seen looking back toward Brisbane over the bay. An idea then sprouted, and Brisbane's first craft brewery was born. On Australia Day weekend in 2013, their Teneriffe brewery opened its doors. Johann Van Der Walt, the company's head brewer, quickly took control of the brewing operations and began developing a selection of flavorful but drinkable beers. They quickly rose to the top of Brisbane's craft beer scene, winning the AIBA Champion Medium Australian Brewery award three times in a row in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
