Fragrant Isle couldn't help but notice the similarities between the island and the picturesque region of Provence. This sparked an idea, leading Edgar to conduct weather studies, soil analysis, and establish a test garden not only at their own home but also at the residence of their friends, Gene and Helene Meyer. As the gardens thrived and the friendship deepened, the vision of creating a lavender business began to take shape. However, tragedy struck when Gene passed away unexpectedly. Despite the loss, Martine, Edgar, and Helene were determined to forge ahead, knowing that Gene would have wholeheartedly supported their venture with his wealth of executive experience and knowledge. In 2012, the team developed business plans and ordered lavender plants for cultivation starting in 2013. They also procured products from other vendors that shared the same type of lavender buds they intended to grow. Early in 2013, they established a retail store in rental space on the Island. In June, nearly 9, 000 lavender plants were carefully planted across four fields. On June 9, Fragrant Isle opened their doors for a "sneak peek," and from that point forward, the Company flourished.
