Mark was finishing up his master's degree in horticulture and planning to start a blueberry farm in Arkansas when he got the chance to go to Central America to help coffee-growing communities set up sustainable agriculture projects. He discovered his love for coffee there; the growing, roasting, cupping, post-harvest processing, and complexities of creating a supply chain from the tree to the cup. Imprint's tangible training began in an exporters measuring lab in Guatemala City, where he gained the most common way of measuring from top cuppers in the country. He learned about Guatemala's growing regions, terroir, elevation, and other quality-affecting factors and the diversity of coffee flavor here. From that point he started fostering the rich connections that are as yet present in Airship Coffee business today, over decade after the fact.
