Acid Jazz founded in 1987 on the exciting days when the "acieed" explosion began, it was the first of the pioneering new independent record companies to pave the way for Mo Wax, the Wall of Sound, and Speak Out Loud. It was originally a simple bedroom operation established by Eddie Piller and Gilles Peterson. Within three months after the release of the first 45 version, Acid Jazz quickly developed and acquired properties in the East End of London and proposed the unique sound of an alternative club. Manifesto-jazz, street soul, funk, Latin, reggae music and jazz poetry appeared very early. They all appeared on groundbreaking jazz-themed nights at London clubs such as Soho's WAG and Camden Legends Dingwall.
